Conejo Malo Project Management Plan

Project Management is a discipline which revolves around breaking a project down into small, manageable parts in order to track its progress and ensure its thorough completion. This semester, I had the pleasure of leading a team through the formulation of a project plan for a public relations event scenario that was made up for the exercise. While the discipline itself is sometimes difficult to apply to undertakings of the real world, holistically, the elements of managing a project are incredibly transferable.

I found that each part of the project had a general purpose, but also had a type of project it would likely come in handy for. Let’s say I’m a management consultant, and I’m tasked with providing a solution to a lack of employee retention. If I were to identify that the root cause of low employee retention and high turnover was the quality of Employee Wellness Programs and compensation structure, I could create a Quality Management Plan which identifies how the company can check to see if my solution is working as intended. The Quality Management Plan(s) would allow the company to standardize the quality of their programs, perform quality assurance to make sure the standards are aligned with company values, and engage in quality control to sustain the improved quality as a long-term result.

If you’d like to look over my PMP, I’ve posted it on my LinkedIn here. I am always open to feedback and learning opportunities, so please feel free to email me at w.higbie@knights.ucf.edu with comments or suggestions!
